Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks...

As an established family run business, it can sometimes be hard to keep up with the Joneses. But not only do we continue to look at ways to reduce our customers’ carbon footprint with consolidated and personalized services, we also look at our internal operations to see where we can lower our impact.

As of March 1st, 2010 Happy Stan’s has started to implement monthly billing, to lower our paper consumption and the amount of fuel used to transport invoices to our customers.

Other initiatives we have implemented include:

• A work from home program, which reduces the amount of traveling our managers do to and from the office.
• Using paper that would have otherwise been discarded by our customers, for all of our everyday printing.

Vector Patrol

Happy Stan’s would like to introduce, Jimmy, our newest addition to the Happy Stan Vector Patrol. Together with Laurel and Hardy these three cats keep our warehouse free of unwanted intruders the natural way.

Jimmy was given to us in late December to take care of. Although this cat was incredibly loved by its owner, its wild and aggressive tendencies were too much for this three-year-old girl to handle. Jimmy has been with us since Christmas time and is making himself right at home with his other two playmates.

There's Always a Silver Lining...

With the big crash in November of 2008, 2009 created some real challenges for the recycling industry. However with those challenges came one giant silver lining that every recycler and landfill operator noticed. The amount of waste produced by individuals and organizations dropped noticeably. For us, that meant that we needed to work even harder if we where going to exceed the volume we collected and processed in 2008.

Climbing to the top for Haiti

With limited resources and a slow economy, often it is hard for individuals and organizations to look outside their everyday operations. In January of this year, our manager joined a group of die hard rock climbers and raised over $1000.00 for the Haiti relief fund. A pledge was made anywhere from $1.00 to $5.00 per climb. “It was great fun and taught us how we as an organization can look outside of our own environment.” said Jamie Kaminski, Manager of Happy Stan’s Recycling.
