Put the Green in Black Friday

By happy • November 21st, 2012

It’s not unusual to find people sleeping outside their favorite retail stores to take advantage of the markdowns the day after American Thanksgiving. However, while credit cards are racking up on the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday will have a very different outcome for America’s largest retail chain.

Hundreds of Walmart stores around the United States will go on strike after employees were asked to leave their Thanksgiving family gatherings in preparation for Black Friday.

This made us think about how people haven’t forgotten the importance of celebrating holidays with their families. So remember to spend some of your down time with those you love. Here are some of our favorite ways to stay active and connect with the people we are closest to:

  • Snow shoeing
  • Ice skating
  • Skiing and snowboarding
  • Baking
  • Watching a movie together
  • Going to the community theater and watching a play or musical
  • Decorating the house with Christmas ornaments
  • Going for a family walk while sipping hot chocolate (Try this recipe!)

We would love to hear some ways that you spend time with your family, tweet us or share them on Facebook!
