Old corrugated cartons are an excellent source of fiber for recycling. They can be compressed and baled for cost effective transport to anywhere in need of fiber for papermaking. Thus they help developing countries without sustainable wood resources build a paper and packaging industry locally and develop their exports to global markets.
Old corrugated cartons are a bulky, highly recyclable waste. Also, making new cardboard from recycled cardboard takes 25% less energy than using fiber from new wood. Therfore, keeping cardboard out of the waste stream will mean saving, trees, landfill space, and energy. wood.
